Illustration Friday-Theory

Click image for a larger view.

This is my entry for IF's "theory" topic. But I NEED YOUR HELP. What labels should I put on the graph??? Send me your ideas. Things like eating veggies vs. misery, cell phone use vs. car accidents, etc. I'll revise the drawing a few days based on YOUR input!

Also, I want to apologize for not making "the rounds" last week. It was amazingly busy. Thanks for all the great feedback!

Scott

HHmmmmm....wow, this could really be anything on that chart, huh?

Reminds me, I have not sent you the "hand" photos yet. Please forgive me, I have been so busy myself. My "to do" list is larger than life.

Maybe the chart should be about the rate at which time evaporates the older we get.

Excellent illustration Scott. Hmmmm...well, as for the theory what about how your chances of having a heart attack increase with the Monday morning alarm?

I like the audience inclusion part.

Happiness - Chocolate - Work

Gnomes - Creepiness - Children

Ditch Digging - Gold - Septic Tank

Firefly - Audience - Movie Studios

Rocky Road - Vanilla - Cherry Garcia

Great work as usual dude.

Hmmm... how about how interesting an art job is, vs. how little it pays? That would be IF on the upper right.

I like the way you worked in the graph paper, edges & all.

I like this a lot, Scott. For me there's no question regarding the words for the graph. It's the same as I used myself but I won't tell anyone else if you want to use it too: theory - practice.

Chocolate seems to be on several people's minds. My first thought was the number of m&ms I eat before I get on the treadmill vs how many minutes I need to be on said treadmill. Or the number of m&ms I eat vs how much of a headache I have later. I eat too many m&ms.

great illustration, as usual. love the textured background.

eBeth, who is in a chocolate comma from the huge box of Lindt truffles her husband gave her on Valentine's Day :)

Lovelly illustration!
I like Mick's idea, the "theory practice" version, as well as Emila Yusof suggestion to leave it blank, which was also the first thing to come to my mind as well.
That leaves the image more clean and to the point, and also thought provoking, since one must 'fill in the blanks' as Emila underlines.
And would maybe also result less rhetorical that way.
And not limited to any language in particular.
But that's just another point of view:)
It's up to you to decide...
Have a nice day!:)

I love your illo! It's always fun to try to guess how you could possibly use hands "in this week's theme" -- Love it!!

I think there is a theory that hasn't been explored enough ... the inverse effect clowns have on attendance at any event claiming to have clowns. (gosh, I hate clowns - creeeeeeepy!)

Scott, another fine illustration. I like how the graph paper blends in with the shirt. Looking at your graph, I'm trying to think of a trend that's on the rise--scientists who wear checkered shirts? Or remember how we were supposed to become paperless with the advent of the home computer? How about "amount of paper used per household since the popularization of the PC".

Keep 'em coming.

Love the grid paper overlay! I like emila yusof's idea that this is left blank, then the viewer will fill it in themselves with whatever pops into their head at the time. Your lines are beautiful! (I wish I had the patience for Freehand) ;-)
