Illustration Friday-Visitors 3

This is my third installment in this series, trying to finish telling a story. I'm posting all three, but the bottom one is the new, third entry, but it's the last one in the story. So from top to bottom I'm trying to tell a little visual story. Please let me know what you think!

beautiful concept... is that some kind of bread?
normally a person who knocks on a door wants something... but here he is knocking in order to give... it's wonderful...!

reminds me of those words, where the Divine Master says "behold, i stand and knock at your door... and to he who opens the door, I will come and sup with him, and he with me..." :o)

beautifully drawn images, with some straightforward n very appealing composition...

A nice set of illustrations. But on the last one, I think you need to do a little more work on the plate, to clarify what it is.

OK Scott - neat that you made it a 3 part series. Love the chula bread - nice touch. Am I just backward though, because the way I see this is (1)visitor knocks > (2)person inside opens door > (3) person inside serves bread to visitor. I guess that's the beauty of illustration - everyone ses somthing just a little bit differently. LOVE your work - it's a great series!

you draw hands beautifully and they are very expressive. I like the colors and love that it tells a little story. I almost want to see this continue...and see whats next.

holy foreshortening! :)
great texture.
You have an excellent sense of design, looking at much of your work. Even better that you have a very illustrative sense of design.
Nothing wrong with the great time- and stress-saver of tracing your photo of your hands.
I saw the sequence the same as "bee'nme" saw it. And made me think of the same verse "dintoons" mentioned.

Very, very nice. I love how you get that texture, and that warm, antique feeling. Great, nostalgic colors too!

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you added a third piece. So are the visitors being polite and bringing treats or did they just come over to gobble this up?!

1> visitor knocks on door
2> person opens door
3> The visitor is an alien who sucks out the brain of the person and puts it on a plate.... right?

That was my first thought, too when I saw the 3rd piece...a weird looking BRAIN on a plate! :) Nice work!

Here I was under the impression that was bread in the third panel. Thanks Doug for the insight!
Seriously, Scott, your ability to draw hands and arms are amazing. I wish I could do that!

You have some mad hand drawing skills!
I hope that is freshly baked bread, and not brains. : |

I was looking at one and two from outside, never occurred the hand reaching for the knob might be from inside the house. I like the surprise, and the story, and in just three frames, but satisfying. Wow!

I really like how you divided up the space in each of these compositions. The second being my favorite. by the way, your photo's of the hump back whales are really special.

So I take a little breather, and you come back strong from your extended absence!

I like the story-telling sequential bit here on this one. You've done a great job on the 'captain' companion piece you did. Thanks for re-posting the 'might' post. Both have a hopeful, optimistic message to me.

The duct tape 'emergency' pieces are truly inspired.

All are very cool.

Good to see you back. Hope your summer was great!

hands are always a sign of people's characters, they're the first thing i look at.
