Illustration Friday-Sour

Click image for a larger view.

Created this a.m. for Illustration Friday's "Sour" topic. I draw my lines in Freehand, bring them into Photoshop, add color, then paint and scan a background, which gets blended in. I try hard to create effective color schemes, using a special technique in Photoshop.

Have a great 4th of July to Americans.

I'm going looking for whales today, tomorrow too. Can't wait for the blue whales to show up for the summer!

Scott

You certainly managed the right blend of colours for me. Love the simple lines. Can an expat enjoy the 4th, too?

Very nice sour image. I love the taste of lemon. Does that make me a sour person? Hehe.

what a fun collection of illustrations. I like that you have used hands in each one as the common element. I can see how a collection like this might get quite extensive. Hands are difficult to do; to get the proportion correct. Wonderful job doing so.

Cool stuff Scott! I like the canvas texture. When are you going to go back to your old avatar with your pup? I really like your new one, but that old one was sooo cool.

Nice illustration. Wow, you do hands very well. I haven't drawn hands for a long time and struggled when I recently tried to. I'll use your drawings for inspiration to do better.

A great use of colour and 'materials' in this. The crispness of the freehand line works really well against the painted background. Whatever your 'special technique' in photoshop for generating colour schemes is it certain has borne fruit here (arrrgh, sorry for the pun). This piece is no lemon (aaargh, I'll stop it :)

PS. many thanks for visiting the blog, hadn't thought about the 4 pieces that way but you're right now I come to look at it, cheers!
