Illustration Friday-Renewal

This is my entry for Illustration Friday's "Renewal" topic. Why a starfish? Actually is a "sea star". Sea stars renew themselves if they lose a leg, or are torn into pieces. They can regenerate. Fisherman used to hate sea stars and would tear them into two pieces to try and kill them...when really they were doubling the number of sea stars.

Have been doing IF topics for a while...and hope to get back into it.

Per my usual, I drew the lines and shapes in Freehand, painted a background and combined in Photoshop.

Love to hear your thoughts!

What a great take on the theme! And your background is lovely! It seems I have to learn a bit about Freehand... if you can make such wonderful things as what you just did here. :-)

I love your comment about the sea star's renewal abilities as well as your wonderful illustration- I too like the combination of the loose painterly background with the strong graphic image. Thanks too for your comment on my submission- I'll make the image bigger on the blog.
