Illustration Friday-Grow

This is my entry for IF's "grow" topic. This guy must eat to keep growing, you know. OK, I did it for the Monster Mash contest too. Just finished it early this a.m. I'll probably do another one too, but probably not today.

Shot personal photos for reference. Drew my lines lovingly and carefully in Freehand with the pen tool. (Some of you know that takes a long time....true.) Then painted a background with acrylics, a new orange colored pencil I bought and some graphite. Pulled everything together in Photoshop where I colored my shapes and blended them into my background to let the texture show through.

I appreciate your feedback a lot!

This sort of illustration is out of my comfort zone. But, still it was fun. Your thoughts on it?

Illustration Friday-Extremes

This is my entry for IF's "extremes" topic. I wanted to create a powerful image that would make a strong impact, fitting for the word.

Like I frequently do, I drew the vector lines in Freehand, painted some real textures and combined everything in Photoshop. Created this today, Friday, specifically for the challenge!

Let me know what you think! Honestly!!!

Also, my "open" entry did not get posted until very late on Thursday. I hope you check that out, and I hope you saved a vote for me? Trust me, "open" is not nearly so gruesome.

Here's a bonus image for IF's "The Blues" topic. Based on a photo that Susan took, of which I loved the composition. Relatively quick work.
